A network assessment can help you follow best practice standards.

IE’s network assessments provide our customers with detailed information on their current network infrastructure so that they can determine what changes are necessary, if any, to bring their networks up to current best-practice standards for security, reliability, and performance.

Network Assessment

We start with a high-level review of your technology initiatives to understand the applications and devices that will be used on the network to ensure it is designed to meet or exceed requirements both today and in the foreseeable future. This may include IoT initiatives, company expansion, mergers and acquisitions, cloud services, new applications with specific performance requirements, or any other organizational program which depends on the network. Armed with this information, IE will begin a review of existing network devices and the overall architecture to determine if the network will support the demands placed upon it.

Assessment & Analysis

IE will start with an analysis of the existing network devices, their configurations, and the overall network topology. This includes a review of your network device hardware and software versions to determine if they can provide the performance and expansion required. Software versions will be researched for functionality and outstanding security issues, and we will verify both hardware and software as being eligible for manufacturer support. We will tour wiring closets to verify port availability for expansion and the overall cable plant supporting client devices and up/downlinks. Network device configurations will be gathered and reviewed for compliance with best-practice network and security design principles, and statistics will be checked on ports to identify those with misconfiguration that are affecting performance. IE will conclude with a review and analysis of the layer 2 and 3 technologies employed to provide resiliency in the event of a network failure. 

Report & Review

Using the information gathered, IE will compile a report summarizing the data gathered and resulting recommendations. We will perform supplemental research where necessary to validate findings and confirm recommendations. The resulting report will provide your organization with a complete inventory of the network, and a detailed listing of changes necessary to achieve your stated goals and ensure a high-performing network that supports your users and their applications, all while integrating security controls. This will allow you to make any necessary changes quickly and with confidence to support the needs of the organization.
